Three notes with a figure 3 placed over or under them is termed a triplet and are played in the time of 2 notes of the same value. Thus: three quarter note9 must be played in the time of two quarters- three eighths in the time of two eighths. In a movement of moderate time they are executed with the down stroke only. To execute a chord of two or more notes strike with a firm down stroke. When two notes are used they are termed double stops. Chord playing is very effective on the Tenor Banjo. |
